Ever wondered about Flow --here is a little bit about it--I will tell you it is something to experience more than anything !
Flowtrition is a very specific gentle touch that when accessed, it allows for the body to go to a state of ease by dropping spinal cord tension. It opens up communication with the body and your central nervous system.
What makes this approach unique and profound is the direct communication that occurs neurologically. As the body integrates stored information (stress & tension), from the past or present, it moves from a state of survival (sympathetic nervous system) to a state of healing and growth (parasympathetic nervous system). When this occurs, one's potential for your body to be supportive is greatly increased.
Often, two to five touches, made in less than 5 minutes can bring substantial changes. Session normally last anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes. We work on top of clothing.
When we are in a state of flow, the mind and body are in a state of healing and growth. We have an increased awareness and connection to our self, to other people, and to the environment around us, allowing for greater health, harmony and well-being at a physical, mental, and emotional level.
One thing that makes Flowtrition unique, is that a person doing Flowtrition, is not trying to fix, or change anyone. We see the perfection of the person and their body. The purpose with Flowtrition is to connect through a light touch, and let the nervous system and the body decide what it wants to do next. For many people this can be a shift, which leads to symptom relief, but that is not the primary purpose, because removal of pain, is not always a sign of improved health. What is more important is the body learning to respond in the most appropriate manner to it's environment. We are allowing the body the opportunity to make changes from within, which is more empowering than trying to force something to change when it is not ready.
This body work is a very gentle touch and appropriate for all ages and any state of health.
Dining Alone--A scary concept for many of us that we will do ANYTHING to avoid it. If we do find ourselves in that situation we will quickly distract ourselves with whatever means handy; cellphone, book, magazine, even the menu !
I originally faced this concept several years ago when I was feeling low and just could not stand to look at the walls of my house any longer. Feeling isolated and depressed I forced myself to get out and go eat ALONE ! Originally this was not my first option. After about the 4 or 5th call to friends who were all busy having a life I reluctantly took myself out for lunch.
I started to pull out my book and journal thinking I would have amazing insights to my life and the world around me. Well--that didn't happen. Honestly I could not really focus on anything that day other than just feeling low. So I put everything away, ordered my food and sat. I sat without ANYTHING to distract me and then it happened.
The art of noticing !! Now I have always been one to notice details, mannerisms, and decor but this was noticing on a very intimate level. I noticed what the air smelled like, I noticed what my table felt like, I noticed the perfume on the server, I noticed the family across the room from me. I think you get the point of where I am going with this. This act of noticing brought everything alive and gave it breath, gave it life that had been there and I was always too distracted to see.
When my food came out, this brought about another experience of tasting, smelling, chewing and just the overall enjoyment of what I was eating and how the rhythm of my chewing was almost like a meditation. The interaction I had with my server was just as wonderful. I did not get the details of her life but we interacted in a way that you only can when that is the only person you have to interact with. That 45 min or an hour, whatever it was the one of the most memorable lunches I have had.
Was it because the food was great, not really. Was it because I came away with amazing solutions to my life, not really. Was it because it was the nicest place I have ever been, not really. People this was a Chili's bar and grill--not a table by the beach !
Sit with your uncomfortableness, make friends with your insecurity, and relax into your judgements about what others are thinking about you sitting there alone. Once you do , then comes the confidence to look up and around and not mind if anyone is staring, wondering why you are all by yourself.
I share this to not only give you permission to try dining alone, but to try it with out ANY distractions. Take your experience in and NOTICE what you NOTICE !!
I have done this on more than one occasions and of the many lunch dates I have had out with wonderful people and wonderful food. I can remember almost every time I dined alone and the experience I had. Today in fact, I was feeling a little too secluded so I took myself out to lunch and came back feeling more revived than ever !
When Flow came into my life I had never heard of it before, and at the most, thought it was a version of Yoga. I had recently taken a break from teaching nutrition classes due to feeling very uninspired and discouraged that my nutrition clients were still having a lot of trouble in their quest to improve their eating habits with food alone. I began to explore why and where, we were blocking ourselves from what we were hoping our bodies would do for us.
I began to explore how our emotions play into our health and how they affected our eating habits. At that time I had a LOT of free time on my hands, my kids were all off to school and I was not working outside of my house. I found myself with plenty of time to explore my emotions, my past, and ALL of the places that these stored emotions were showing up in my body. It was an interesting year of the lowest of lows and the most interesting discoveries of myself. That will always be in my mental rolodex as the best year of my life to this point. It is a glorious thing when you can wake up and not feel the burden of your past weighing you down.
As I started to share this with people and share how they themselves, could find the same epiphany as I did, I realized super quick that everyone’s journey is not at a place where they have the time to dive in like I did, nor did they really want to ! I kept thinking how would I help people unlock those areas where they have trapped all of these emotions or trauma if they were not willing to go back and take a good hard look at their past.
As I kept throwing out that question to the universe of how to help people without hours of talk therapy or life mapping, was when Flow showed up !! I came across a couple that was having an info night about Flow. Something about that place kept really calling me to go and check it out. Well let’s just that say, that day, spirit spoke !
I knew instantly this was what I was looking for. This technique brought about so many wonderful things for me and new discoveries that I instantly fell in love. For not only what it did for me but for the potential it has for each one of us.
Here are 5 of my top reasons why I love Flow
1. No Therapy Needed !
Flow, relieves areas of tension by opening up communication between the body and mind, through our central nervous system. No having to work through hours of emotional digging or talk therapy. However you may be able and willing to deal with issues in your world in a way you have never before. As that communication road opens up, then the fun happens. This is where old patterns can finally be set free, old emotions and trauma from the earliest parts of our lives can begin to release. Our connection with ourselves becomes clearer as the areas are allowed to be open and move freely. This can unlock our creativity, motivation or bring about a peace about our life. The best part is, you don’t even have to understand where it was blocked or what created it ! You just have to be willing to allow for whatever comes up to be released knowing you are clearing energetic debris each time you have a session.
2. Quicker recovery time
We all have something at one time or another that we are recovering from, whether it is just sore muscles or trauma points from an accident. I recently had a situation where Flow became my new best friend for recovering. I was ice skating and tripped and fell face first into the ice. I slammed down so hard it knocked the wind out of me and my body felt as if I had been in a minor car accident. I went the next day for a Flow session and by that evening and the following day I felt fantastic. My second recovery time was with some sinus drainage in the back of throat for days on end, that was keeping me up at night. After a couple of Flow sessions it finally broke loose and I was back to normal. Flow opens up the communication so that areas of your body that need attention are getting the right chemicals and processes for repairs in the fastest most efficient way. Healing time and recovery can be greatly reduced by getting Flow treatments after any injury.
3. Opens up your Creativity and Inspiration
So much of our lack of connection to that creative part of ourselves is buried under old tapes running through our heads of what we fear. Not being good enough, judgment, lack of motivation, not being worthy, not deserving, etc. Creativity and inspiration is free to come to the surface when we can move out old energy that keeps us from feeling to free to express that part of ourselves. When I first found Flow I was just an intrigued participant. After a few sessions I had a pretty constant flow of ideas and inspiration. It is so subtle at first until you start to recognize you are coming up with new ideas or new solutions quickly and effortlessly like never before.
4. Improves Digestion and Posture
Flow is meant to bring the spine to your best alignment which in turns will help with your posture and digestion. I remember after about 3 sessions I was having a hard time slouching and wondered why since that was my normal sitting position. I came to realize as I was getting flow session my posture just naturally wanted to be more upright. Then there is good digestion. An extremely healthy perk of removing old tension and energy in the body that has resided in the digestive tract for years. Better digestion is crucial for allowing your body to process and eliminate all that it gets bombarded with.
5. You Feel so Peaceful and Calm--No Stress Zone
Each time I leave a Flow session I am quite Zen and the peace and calm I feel is such a wonderful experience that I carry it with me long after a session. If you are dealing with anxiety of any kind or if your life has just gotten too stressful there is such relief in finding that calm, relaxed state of being. Flow is about putting you at ease from the moment you make your appointment to the time you lay on the table. A body at ease is primed to let loose and release whatever is keeping you from feeling at ease in your every day life.
These are my reasons for loving Flow and what I have experienced. Each body is unique and perfect and the beauty about Flow is that it honors that in such a way that it will let your body and mind to decide what it needs and when. A Flow practitioner is there to be an assistant to your body and your process.
Flow can have a huge impact with just one session or 10. Often, just a few touches can bring substantial changes. Session normally last anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes and we work on top of clothing so you can easily fit a session into your schedule. I will be excited to share more stories and more reasons why I love Flow so much as each new person comes for a session !
